Poetry As Secret Box ✍️
I am very excited to teach for the University of Chicago’s Graham School from October 9th through December 4th (week off for Thanksgiving). We will meet 11:30-2:00 p.m. (PT) on Zoom. The deadline to enroll is in September. I would love you to join me!
Here is the class description:
In this eight-week workshop students will be introduced to various contemporary poetry movements and try a series of generative assignments. We look at docupoetics, ecopoetics, hybrid forms, Language poetry, erasure forms, performance poetry, and the remaking of the American sonnet, among others. Students will read representative authors and try a range of exercises to spark their current poetry practice in new ways. There will be weekly workshopping of student work within a welcoming environment and the chance to build supportive literary community.

Teaching & Classes
Helping students understand the power and pleasure of using words well is one of my passions.
I am currently teaching private poetry classes and work one on one as a creative writing mentor.
Past poetry classes include: “Building a First Book Manuscript,” “Poetry School — Current Poetry Movements,” “Poetry as Secret Box,” “Fire It Up: Rejuvenating Your Poetry Practice.”
